Small spaces and sloped ceilings.
No matter how small your space or how sloped your ceiling, follow a few simple rules and make the most of your room.
Keep tiling simple - I always suggest going for a large format tile. We love the Waxman's tile which is 50x50cms - It's a warm beige colour, has an anti slip surface and is light reflecting. Using the same tile on the floor and walls makes the edge of the room less obvious and gives the impression that the space is bigger. You can add colour and texture with a border tile or mosaic. For something less permanent choose bright towels and accessories, or even paint a wall as a feature. This winter use luxurious bronzes and gold's or rich plums and navy blues.
Mirrors are a fantastic way to make rooms appear larger. We manufacture mirrors to any shape and size. For a mirror above the basin area use a simple polished or bevelled edge. For something more classical, try mirroring a section of wall, floor to ceiling, in a tinted mirror - Bronze is warm and inviting. Talk to one of our designers about the wide choice of mirrors available. Suggestions are bronze, gold and peach tinted mirrors or turquoise for the more daring person.
Keep the floor clutter free and easy to clean with wall hung items. We have a huge selection of toilets and basins with storage that is attached to the wall, leaving all your floor areas free.
Lighting is always our final touch and such an easy way to enhance and brighten dull corners. Combinations of ceiling spot lights, LED's and mirror lights work well.
We love the amber light given off from this LED (left), suitable for mounting in walls or recessing into the floor. The colour goes perfectly with our tiling and gives a warm sumptuous glow.
We have a huge selection of mirror lights. Our favourite this month is this mirrored light (right), which is suitable for wall mounting or fully recessed.
Ask your electrician to put your lighting on different switches. For example, spot lights on one switch for a bright light in the morning and the LED's and mirror lighting on a separate switch for softer evening lighting.
